Colors of Humanity Art Gallery announces a call to artists for an online art exhibition from May 1 to 31, 2017.

Awards – Cash prizes will be given. Additionally, the “Best of Show” winner will be featured. His or her artwork will be on the cover of the show and it will be largely displayed with an article about them and their work. Other winners will be featured and have similar recognition. All accepted works will be displayed with the artist name, title of work, and a link back to their website, or email address if they do not have a website.

Theme – “Yellow” – This primary color is often associated with happiness, spontaneity, amusement, gentleness, but also with envy, jealousy, and cowardice. In Iran it has connotations of sickness, but also wisdom. Yellow symbolizes many things and has different meaning in different cultures. We would like to see your interpretation of this color. We will be donating 10% of all entry fees from this show to Soles4Soles.

Media– 2D works in all types of media.

Eligibility– All artists 18 and over may enter.

Judging Criteria– Originality, interpretation, quality, demonstration of ability, and usage of medium

Juror– Janelle Cogan

Entry Fee– $20 for 1 or 2 pieces (You may enter more than once if you have additional works.)

Filmmakers from across the globe are being invited to enter their work for the Revelation Perth International Film Festival in 2017.

Revelation is regarded as one of the most exciting independent film festivals in Australia and will run from 6-19 July, 2017 in Perth.

The Festival offers a wholly unique take on the traditional film festival circuit, with critical discussion, creative debate and an open exchange of ideas. Alongside the screening of over 140 films are workshops, networking opportunities and Australia’s only academic conference held in partnership with a film festival.

It was founded in 1997 and the event has developed into an internationally renowned film festival, screening stand-out works and giving a platform for distinctive approaches to production, distribution and exhibition.

All submitted films must be completed after 1 January 2016.

2017 marks Revelation’s twentieth anniversary.

Each entry costs $40 (Australian Dollars).

The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society announces a call to artists for their annual juried exhibition, September 11 – October 28, 2017 at the Adams County Arts Council in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

$14,000 in awards.

Jurors: Selection – Jeanne Dobie, Awards – Marjorie Glick.

Open to all artists 18 and over working with water media on paper. Only original work never shown in any previous juried show or a PWS exhibition. No prints, copies, class work, or digital work allowed. No diptychs or triptychs.

Artists may enter 1 or 2 images, but only 1 may be selected. Maximum outside frame size is 40″. Minimum image size is 8″ x 10″. Prospectus available on the website or by email.

The Humanity Photo Awards call upon responsible photographers who respect and love life to take out your cameras, and in the form of feature photography:

  • to explore and rescue the endangered folk cultures of nationalities worldwide;
  • to record the changes and evolution of various folk cultures in a genuine, vivid and profound way;
  • to record, spread and share the multi-cultures of the world with the aim of enhancing mutual understanding and communication between people and promoting world peace and development;
  • to contribute to the World Folklore Photo Museum with world-wide cultural records.

Organised by The China Folklore Photographic Association (CFPA) and The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)


Entrants are required to submit photo stories/portfolios (8 to 14 photos for each set) according to the following categories:

Portrait & Costume

Portraits of people from different nationalities; costumes and adornments featuring diverse ethnic cultures, including everyday dress, ceremonial dress, hats and shoes, adornments and hairstyles, etc; the making of costumes and adornments; distinctive attire customs such as dressing etiquette and taboos.


The construction process, structure, interior layout and furniture adornments of traditional dwellings, public facilities and special architecture (e.g. religious buildings); the influence of the surroundings reflected on features of the local architecture; dwelling habits of different ethnic groups.

Living Custom

Usual living habits, such as diet modes, food making, ritual cleansing and related taboos; ecological consciousness, education forms and folk medicine in different regions; comprehensive and serial life customs of a specific region, a nationality or a tribe.

Production & Commerce

Traditional ways of production under certain ecological environments, such as fishing, hunting, farming, forestry, animal husbandry, etc.; materials processing such as handicrafts industry and folk crafts; services that make life easy; business activities such as products transportation and trade.


Annual and seasonal festivals, festivals on production and recreation, religious ceremonies, temple fairs; traditional sports, recreational activities, music, dances and local dramas performed during festivals, especially showing their positive role in communications among local people and nations.

Traditional Rites

Birth rites, adult rites, weddings, funerals, morality etiquette, etiquette showing respect for the aged; celebrations for individuals and families, village and family rites, worshiping rites, taboo rites and folk religious rites.


Five awards will be offered in accordance with the judging criteria: Grand Awards, Documentary Awards, Jury’s Special Awards, Nomination Awards and Performance Awards. All prize-winning photographers will be invited to attend the award ceremony and related events that last for 3 to 6 days. 6 Grand Awards winners will receive US$2,000 of cash prize and transport allowance.

Exhibit Your Work at ViewPoint Gallery -Viewpoint International Photography Competition 2017

This is an opportunity to exhibit your work for one month at ViewPoint Gallery, a photography gallery located in Halifax, Nova Scotia on a busy downtown street in the heart of one of Canada’s most vibrant arts communities.

The International Photography Competition is open to photographers located in any country around the world.  There are no restrictions on subject matter.  The images will be reviewed by an independent jury comprised of experienced photographers who will select 12 images for exhibition at ViewPoint Gallery.

Entries must be submitted electronically with an entry fee of $20. US.  A maximum of three images may be submitted with each entry.  Multiple entries are permitted.

The entry deadline is April 15, 2017.


Eligible applicants may be located anywhere around the world.  Current ViewPoint members and their immediate families are ineligible.  Only images submitted by the artists who created them and hold sole copyright will be considered.  Each winning image will be exhibited for one month between June 2017 and May 2018 with the month to be chosen by ViewPoint Gallery.  Winning entrants agree to give ViewPoint Gallery permission to print and exhibit the work and to use the submitted images in publicity and media promotion.  Please note: The photographers retain copyright of submitted images.

If your images are selected as the winning entries,

  • Winners will be notified by e-mail by May 5, 2017.

  • You will be required to provide a full resolution file for printing, to be submitted via ViewPoint’s FTP site.  Detailed instructions will be provided when the winning images are selected.

  • Your full-resolution images must adhere to one of the following image size standards:

    • 12 x 18 inch (30.5 x 45.7 cm) at 300 ppi (landscape or portrait orientation)

    • 15 x 15 inches (38 x 38 cm) at 300 ppi

  • You will be required to provide a biography (150-word maximum), an artist statement (150-word maximum), website URL (if applicable), pricing, and contact information.  (If English is not your first language, be assured that we have editors ready to help.)


Twelve winning images will be selected for exhibition at ViewPoint Gallery – one image will be exhibited monthly. The winning images will be professionally printed and framed at no cost to the photographer. The images will be promoted on ViewPoint’s website and newsletter.

Each winning image will be matted, framed, and displayed as ViewPoint Gallery’s featured International Artist of the Month.  Winning images will be available for sale at a price set by the artist.  If the framed image is sold in the Gallery, the artist will receive the full sale price minus a 15% processing fee.  Any unsold prints will be disposed of in a confidential and safe manner within one year of exhibiting.  Unsold prints will not be returned.
