Win over $1500 of prizing – Capturing life’s moments and memories

Capturing life’s moments and memories

Deadline: 24.04.17 Entry Fee: Free

All submissions to this contest must be shot and processed on an Apple iOS device – iPhone, iPad and iPod. Photos shot on any other camera or phone camera aren’t eligible, and we’re not accepting submissions edited on a desktop. Please include EXiF data.

In this iOS-only contest, we’re working with iPhone photography expert Jack Hollingsworth to hunt down the best of those everyday snapshots of life that have become so accessible since the birth of the camera phone. Although iPhone cameras are generally seen as technically inferior to DSLRs, the quality of a photo mostly depends on the photographer’s vision and creative aim. So, even if you have very little experience with iPhoneography, what better time to test the limits of your phone’s camera? Good luck!

The winners of both the expert category and the crowd category will be sent a $500 (USD) iPhone lens kit from Moment Lens, including their Tele lens, Wide lens, Super Fish lens, Macro lens, lens caps, Leather Neck strap, Travel case and lens pen.

The runners up in both categories will be sent the MeFoto Air tripod ($125) and Sidekick 360 adapter ($30).

The 3rd place finishers in both categories will win a Conceptor iBlazr2 flash/combo pack ($130).

The 1st, 2nd and rd place finishers in both categories will be sent a copy of Jack Hollingsworth’s brand new book ‘The Joy of iPhotography‘.

How it works

Every photo submitted will be available for the crowd to rate once the submissions period has ended. You can see all the images uploaded to a contest, but will need to rate them to see how they’re ranked once the rating period begins.

Some contests on Photocrowd also have a judge. After the submission period closes the judge chooses their favourite images and writes some image reviews. The crowd and judge results will be announced on the same day.

Win $3000 – Dencity Competition 2017 – A Competition to Improve Slums

Dencity Competition 2017 – A Competition to Improve Slums

Deadline: 24.04.17 Entry Fee: $80 Shelter Global is pleased to invite architects, planners, students, engineers, designers, thinkers, NGOs and organizations from all over the world to take part in the 2017 Dencity Competition. The intent of this competition is to foster new conceptual ideas about how to better handle the growing density of unplanned cities. Dencity Competition 2017 will award the three best ideas with a total prize fund of more than $5,000, of which $3,000 are reserved for the best entry.

Contestants should consider how design can empower communities and allow for a self-sufficient future. The world’s population is rapidly growing and places all over the world are having to adapt with an unprecedented increase in urbanization. Towns are quickly growing into cities, and some of the densest places in the world are comprised of makeshift homes, otherwise referred to as slums. Right now, well over 1 billion people around the world live in slums. This number is rapidly growing and it is expected to reach 2 billion by the year 2030. Design has always played a tremendous role in generating new ideas for the future. Now, more than ever, we need to turn our focus to cities and play a central role in the development of substandard neighborhoods. Slums effect much more than just housing; they affect almost all living conditions and communities as a whole. Dencity Competition 2017 is Shelter Global’s third annual competition.

Dencity Competition 2017 Registration Fees.

Late registration goes until 24 April 2017 at midnight and is $80.
