The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition is excited to announce our 3rd annual national juried art show, ‘Recycle 2017’. Our prestigious juror is once again Harriet Taub, Executive Director of Materials for the Arts, one of the largest reuse centers in the U.S.
The exhibit runs May 13 – June 18, 2017.
We are seeking to exhibit sophisticated two- and three-dimensional art created in the re-use genre. As well as looking for skill in the use of material, we want to see art that demonstrates the importance of conserving our limited natural resources. We look for how well the medium relates to the upcycling movement and how fully the artist’s intention or concept is presented and realized. Entries must incorporate at least 50 percent of repurposed, recycled, or reused materials.
This call for submissions is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2-D and 3-D media, including film/video when part of an installation. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. All work should be non-utilitarian in nature. This is a fine art exhibition.
$3000 in cash prizes will be awarded including $1000 Best in Show Gold.
Ours is a truly unique gallery—a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords us the opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and we welcome it. We will be using 8,000 square feet for this show, and look forward to exhibiting artist’s work from all around the country, work in all sizes, subjects, and media, except film (it’s almost completely wide open).
